Stacey Warnix

Stacey Warnix is a color field painter who has exhibited across the United States, especially in Texas and Florida. Recent showings include several art festivals in Palm Beach County Convention Center in Florida and exhibitions at Washington Gallery in Waco, Texas and The Palm Beach Design Showroom at Lake Worth, Florida. Stacey has participated multiple times at The Other Art Fair in Dallas and Los Angeles. Recognitions include spotlight artist award at Red Dot Miami, ranked one of the best artists at The Other Art Fair in Dallas, and featured artist in a group exhibit at The Palm Beach Design Showroom. Stacey has been featured multiple times in collections on Saatchi Art as well as several publications in Palm Beach Illustrated.

Usually large in scale, Stacey’s paintings can range anywhere from 48 x 48 inches to 72 x 108 inches. These massive paintings create a monumental presence and instill the viewer with a sense of poetry in the free forms of color application. The paint typically spreads across the surface in large blocks and spheres of color. With a sense of organization and discipline these color field paintings elicit soothing emotions and the instilling of a meditative state.

With a glass of wine, the paintings can be enjoyed for their pure nature. Color field painting, like minimalism, remains one of the least understood art forms, however with Stacey’s sophistication of color and quiet brushwork she creates a deeper appreciation for these approaches. Varying between both blatantly opaque and subtle transparent smears of paint, the disparity offers a sense of complexity to respecting the free flow of the paint’s form. Devoid of any solid geometry or sense of structure, the paintings are literally fields of paint with an unusual combination of harsh blacks and pastels tones. Because of their large scale and subtle nature, the paintings may be difficult to fully appreciate unless seen in person, however if we use our imaginations we may be able to try to understand the scope of their imposing yet introspective presence.

Wallflower (Loverpool) (pictured above) contains a soft, delicate presence of smudges of pink and purple juxtaposed against neutral gray and imposing black forms. A configuration of a synthesis between darkness and light or perhaps even a contrast and connection between the masculine and the feminine. One side remains prominent and bold while the other conveys calmness. Both competing sides, although integrated, remain asymmetrical facing each other creating a fusion but also a slight and subtle tension. The nuanced approach to the piece conveys Stacey’s complex hand and strategy to extend the intricate nature of color field painting.

Stacey Warnix paintings are a grand design in the concept of push and pull containing slight tension with an abundance of harmony. The paintings are full of wonderful contradictions in application and visual approach creating an intricacy towards new and integrative methods of color field painting. Stacey remains a gifted painter pushing the boundaries of an art form which may have never been fully explored and developed due to her unique approach of subtle shifting planes of tone and harmoniously pleasant brushwork.
